This table runner is woven from natural seagrass fibre with a fringed edge along each end. It measures 150 x 36 cm, long enough to run the length of a dining table set for a small gathering.
Symbolism
A runner laid down the centre of the table is, in many traditions, a way of marking a meal as more than an everyday one, drawing people to sit together around a shared line of natural material. Seagrass itself is often linked to the earth element and to grounding, an understated base for candles, dishes or a centrepiece.
