This rectangular cooking plate is hand-carved from a single block of Himalayan salt, measuring 30 x 20 x 5 cm. Placed on a grill or stove, it can be used to sear, grill or serve food directly on its surface, while its natural trace minerals such as potassium, magnesium and calcium give the stone its distinctive pink-to-orange colour. Salt of this kind is traditionally quarried in Pakistan, where the plate is hand-carved.
How to use
- Heat gradually from low heat to avoid thermal cracking
- Lightly oil the surface before cooking to help prevent sticking
- Chill the plate to serve cold dishes on it as well
- Let it cool completely after use, scrape off residue and rinse with water; avoid soap
