This evening primrose oil is pressed from the seeds of Oenothera biennis, a plant native to North America and now widely cultivated across China for oil production. It has a light golden colour, a mild nutty scent and a fine texture.
Spiritual meaning
Evening primrose takes its name from flowers that open fully at night and close again the following morning. Native American communities are said to have used the plant for wound care and its calming properties, and the oil remains rich in omega-6 fatty acids, often blended into cosmetics to soothe skin, scalp and hair.
