Vedic Masala Incense Sticks – Love, Pack of 12

There is usually a point in the evening when the day should stop and does not. Lighting a stick of incense gives it an edge you can see: around twenty minutes of scent and a thin line of smoke. These are hand-rolled masala sticks from the Vedic line, twelve to a box, made in India, in the soft floral blend the makers call Love.

Spiritual meaning

Masala incense is made by rolling a paste of resins, herbs and oils onto a thin bamboo stick, a method used in India for centuries. Rising smoke is the traditional sign of an offering and of a space being made ready, and flower petals belong to the same grammar: they are associated with affection and with the heart. Many people choose a floral blend for an evening shared with someone, or for a quiet sitting on their own.

How to use

• Push the bare end of the stick into a holder that catches the ash, or into a bowl of sand or rice.
• Light the tip, let it flame for a few seconds, then blow it out so the ember glows.
• Burn it on a heat-resistant surface, away from curtains, paper and anything that can catch.
• Air the room while it burns, and never leave a lit stick unattended.
• Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
