This adjustable bracelet from Bali is woven with five coloured threads inspired by the Panca Datu philosophy of Balinese Hinduism.
Spiritual meaning
Panca means five, and Datu refers to elements or strengths, so Panca Datu is understood as the power of five beliefs, each represented by a colour. Yellow is traditionally linked to happiness, red to love and emotion, black to protection as well as the presence of challenge, and green and white each carry their own layer of meaning within the philosophy. Worn together, the five threads are meant to remind the wearer of the many forces that shape belief and outlook on life.
