The smallest bowl in the Black Beaten line is still substantial enough to anchor a small meditation corner on its own. This Small Black Beaten Bowl is cast in brass with a dark, hammered finish, measuring 14cm across and 8cm tall.
Symbolism
In Buddhist tradition, singing bowls are used as a support for meditation, focus and prayer, valued mainly for their sound. Rather than hanging or resting on a handle, the bowl sits directly on its base, and the sides and rim vibrate to produce its tone.
How to use
- Place the bowl on a flat, stable surface or a supporting cushion.
- Circle a wooden striker steadily around the rim to build a sustained tone.
- Strike the rim once instead for a single note, and let it ring out fully before repeating.
