Valerian Essential Oil 10ml

Valerian Essential Oil is not for everyone: its sharp, pungent, earthy odour is one of the most distinctive and polarising in aromatherapy, closer to a damp root cellar than to a flower or herb garden. It is steam distilled from the roots of Valeriana officinalis grown in Eastern Europe, and people tend to either want a bottle on the nightstand or avoid it altogether.

Energetic properties

Valerian root has a long history in European herbal tradition as an evening plant, associated with settling down for the night rather than with any bright or uplifting mood. In aromatherapy it is generally used in very small amounts, often blended with milder oils to soften its intensity.

How to use

• Add just one drop to a diffuser in the evening, alone or blended with a milder oil such as lavender.
• Dilute well in a carrier oil before any skin contact, and patch test first.
• Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
• If pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a doctor before use.
