You light a candle in the evening and want the room to carry something warm and resinous, so benzoin goes into the blend. It comes from the resin of Styrax benzoin, historically one of the oldest incense materials, and is supplied here already diluted in a DPG carrier since the raw resin is normally too thick and sticky to pour.
Spiritual meaning
Benzoin has been burned as incense for centuries and is traditionally associated with purification and comfort. In aromatherapy tradition it is valued for its warm, vanilla-like, balsamic note, often blended with frankincense or myrrh for a deeper, resinous base.
How to use
- Add a few drops to a diffuser or oil burner for a warm, resinous scent
- Dilute further in a carrier oil before skin use, and patch test first
- Do not ingest, and keep out of reach of children and pets
- Ask a doctor before use during pregnancy
