Cooling down after a long walk, Spanish marjoram is one of the herbaceous oils people like to have on hand for an evening blend. Steam-distilled from the leaves and flowering tops of Thymus mastichina in Spain, it has a sharp, camphorous, herby smell distinct from true marjoram.
Energetic properties
Despite its name, this plant is a wild-growing thyme relative rather than true sweet marjoram or oregano, and Spanish herbal tradition has long treated it as its own distinct plant. In aromatherapy tradition it is associated with warmth and quiet composure, and it blends well with lavender or eucalyptus.
How to use
- Add a few drops to a diffuser in the evening
- Dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin, and patch test first
- Not for internal use
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
