A puzzle box in saman wood, about 7.5 cm across and 2.5 cm deep, with a shell design on the lid. The pieces come apart in one order only. Inside is a small compartment, the size of a ring, a folded note or a tumbled stone.
Symbolism
Carved puzzle boxes are a familiar piece of Balinese woodwork, and hiding something small is a gesture in itself: a gift that has to be worked for, a keepsake kept in plain sight.
