In a quiet moment set aside for reflection, a drop of Palo Santo Essential Oil in the diffuser brings a warm, sweet, woody scent into the room, close to the smell of the wood itself when burned as a stick. It is steam distilled from the wood of Bursera graveolens, a tree from the same botanical family as frankincense, grown in Peru.
Spiritual meaning
Palo santo, which means holy wood in Spanish, has long been used by Indigenous communities in South America, where it is traditionally associated with clearing a space and marking the start of a ceremony, in much the same way white sage is used elsewhere, though with a notably milder scent. The oil carries that same warm, resinous character into everyday diffusing.
How to use
- Add 2-3 drops to a diffuser for a warm, woody scent.
- Dilute well in a carrier oil before any skin contact, and patch test first.
- Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- If pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a doctor before use.
