It is steam distilled from the leaves of Myrtus communis grown on Corsica, a shrub that has grown wild across the Mediterranean for centuries.
Symbolism
In Greek and Roman mythology, myrtle was closely linked to Venus and Aphrodite, and the plant became a lasting symbol of love and peace across Mediterranean culture, still used in some regions in bridal wreaths today. Its fresh, green scent reflects that long association with renewal.
How to use
- Add 2-3 drops to a diffuser for a fresh, green morning scent.
- Dilute well in a carrier oil before any skin contact, and patch test first.
