You strike this large gong to mark the beginning or end of a session, watching the sound spread slowly through the room. Finished in a soft greenwash and set on a sturdy carved wooden stand, this 50cm gong is made in Bali, part of a long tradition of gongs sounded during temple ceremonies in Bali and Java.
Spiritual meaning
In Balinese and Javanese tradition, the gong is sounded during ceremonies and gatherings, its deep tone believed by many to help clear and settle a space. It has since found a place in yoga studios and meditation practices, where its fuller sound suits larger rooms and groups.

- Strike with the mallet near the edge for a softer tone, or closer to the centre for more depth
