This rectangular soap dish is shaped with drainage slots and holes running along its length, keeping a bar of soap from sitting in its own water.
Symbolism
Sold in the trade under the mahogany name, the wood used for this dish is actually naseberry wood, Manilkara zapota, a dense timber valued as a mahogany-style substitute for its similar reddish-brown colour. Each piece is hand finished and individually bar-coded, so the grain pattern varies slightly from one dish to the next.
Care
- Rinse after use and stand the dish on its edge to dry rather than leaving it flat and wet.
- Avoid extended soaking, which can dull the finish over time.
