Hand-carved from Suar wood in the traditional Balinese style, this Buddha statue stands approximately 30 cm tall with one hand raised. The carving process can take several weeks per piece, with every detail shaped by hand rather than machine.
Spiritual meaning
The raised hand is traditionally known in Buddhist iconography as the abhaya mudra, a gesture of reassurance and protection, which is where this pose takes its welcome name. As with the rest of the collection, hand-finishing means each statue is naturally unique in grain and tone.
