This Buddha statue is hand-carved from Suar wood using traditional Balinese tools, shown in a seated, contemplative pose. Standing approximately 25 cm tall, it is sized for a shelf, desk or bedside table rather than as a floor piece.
Spiritual meaning
The seated, thoughtful posture is generally read as an image of quiet reflection, in keeping with the meditative role Buddha figures play in many homes. As with all hand-carved pieces, the carving can take several weeks and each statue is naturally unique in grain and finish.
