As the evenings draw in and skincare routines turn a little more deliberate, carrot seed is one of the earthier oils people add to a blend. Steam-distilled from the dried seeds of Daucus carota, it has a warm, woody, slightly musty smell quite different from the vegetable itself.
Energetic properties
Despite the name, this oil has nothing to do with the everyday root vegetable in flavour or use. In aromatherapy tradition it is associated with grounding and a sense of renewal as the seasons turn, and it is usually blended in small amounts alongside citrus or floral oils rather than used alone.
