Blue Driftwood Wind Chime
Driftwood, raffia cord and pinewood beads come together in this blue-toned wind chime, finished with a run of capiz shell discs and a scatter of coffee beans along the cord. It is handmade in Indonesia and measures approximately 31 x 20 cm.
Symbolism
In many traditions, a wind chime hung by a door, porch or window is thought to keep negative energy from settling and to invite a calmer mood into the space around it. The soft clink of the shells as they move is often described as soothing rather than sharp, which is part of why chimes are hung close to seating areas and entryways alike.
How to use
- Hang outdoors on a porch, balcony or garden branch, or indoors near a window that opens.
- Avoid spots with constant strong sun or driving rain, since driftwood and shell are natural materials that weather over time.
- Untangle the cords gently by hand after unpacking, rather than pulling on the shells.

Measurements, materials, how a thing is meant to be used, whether two pieces go together: ask and a person answers. Natural stone and hand-made work vary from piece to piece, so the photograph shows one example rather than the exact item. Write to us.
