This wind chime takes the shape of a cross, built from driftwood and strung with capiz shell in blue and pearl tones. Raffia cord, pinewood beads and coffee beans run through the piece, which is handmade in Indonesia and measures approximately 20 x 49 cm.

Spiritual meaning

The cross is one of the most widely recognised symbols of faith and protection, and many people choose to hang one at a doorway or in a garden as a marker of that meaning. Combined with a wind chime's gentle sound, traditionally linked to clearing negative energy from a space, the piece works as both a spiritual marker and a soft, moving decoration.

How to use

  • Hang by a front door, porch or garden trellis where it can move with the breeze.
  • Indoors, a spot near an open window lets the sound carry without exposing it to weather.
  • Choose a sheltered position if possible, since driftwood and shell can fade or weather with prolonged sun and rain.

Ask about this piece

Measurements, materials, how a thing is meant to be used, whether two pieces go together: ask and a person answers. Natural stone and hand-made work vary from piece to piece, so the photograph shows one example rather than the exact item. Write to us.
