Setting up a home soap or candle-making project, a drop of Ylang Ylang III oil brings a rich, sweet, slightly muskier floral scent into the mix than the earlier fractions of the same flower. Steam-distilled from Cananga odorata grown in Comoros, Fraction III is collected later in the long distillation, giving it a deeper, less delicate character.
Energetic properties
Because it is collected further into the distillation, Fraction III is generally considered less refined than Extra or Fraction I, and is traditionally the grade reached for in soap-making and heavier household blends rather than fine perfumery. It still carries the rich, sweet floral character the flower is known for, just in a bolder form.
How to use
- Use in soap, candle or heavier diffuser blends where a bold floral note is wanted.
- Dilute in a carrier oil before any skin contact, and patch test a small area first.
- Do not ingest, and keep away from children and pets.
- Check with a doctor before use in pregnancy.
