Walking in after a stressful day is when a lot of people reach for a smudge stick, and this blend combines two sages at once: white sage and black sage, bound together into a 10 cm bundle.
Symbolism
White sage is the variety most associated with Indigenous North American clearing tradition, while black sage is more closely tied to Mexican and Central American smudging practice and is generally considered a deeper, more grounding burn. Combined, they are traditionally used for a fuller clearing than either on its own.
How to use
- Angle the stick slightly as you light the tip, then blow out the flame so it smoulders steadily.
- Set it down in a heatproof dish between passes, and press the tip gently against it to stop the smoulder when you are done.
- Always burn it on a heat-resistant surface, never leave it unattended, and keep the room ventilated.
