Settling into a creative project in the evening, rosewood is one of the softer, more floral woods people like to have diffusing nearby. Steam-distilled from the wood of Aniba rosaeodora, it has a mild, sweet, slightly floral smell similar to its relative, ho wood.
Energetic properties
Rosewood has long been prized in perfumery for its gentle, balancing scent, though the slow-growing Amazonian tree it comes from has been heavily harvested over the past century. In aromatherapy tradition it is associated with calm and quiet optimism, often used in smaller amounts as ho wood becomes the more common alternative.
How to use
- Add a few drops to a diffuser in the evening
- Dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin, and patch test first
- Not for internal use
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
