Soaking tired feet at the end of the day, palmarosa is one of the gentler floral oils people like to add to the water. Steam-distilled from the grass of Cymbopogon martini in India, it has a soft, rose-like, slightly green smell despite coming from a grass rather than a flower.
Energetic properties
Palmarosa has long been used across India as an affordable stand-in for rose in perfumery and skin care, its scent close enough to be mistaken for the real thing. In aromatherapy tradition it is associated with comfort and emotional balance, and it blends easily into floral or woody combinations.
How to use
- Add a few drops to a foot soak or diffuser
- Dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin, and patch test first
