Molten Glass Whisky Set on Wood

This set pairs a bottle and a small glass, both formed from hand-blown recycled glass melted onto a natural Gamal wood base. The bottle stands around 22 cm tall with a capacity of about 500 ml, and the matching glass is around 7 cm tall with a capacity of about 70 ml. As with the rest of the range, the glass was shaped while hot and left to settle onto the wood beneath it.

Symbolism

Balinese makers see a paired set like this as extending the usual glass-and-wood pairing into a small, table-ready grouping rather than a single object. Many people display a set like this on a shelf or drinks tray as much for its shape as for any practical use. Because the wood base is unrepeatable, this set's grain and shape belong only to this piece.
