Molten Glass Small Flower Vase on Wood

This small vase is formed from hand-blown recycled glass melted directly onto a natural Gamal wood base, made in Bali. Sized for a single stem or a small bunch of cut flowers, it follows the same process as the larger vases in the range on a more compact scale. The glass hardens into the exact contour of the wood beneath it as it cools.

Symbolism

Balinese craftspeople see this glass-and-wood pairing as a small, everyday meeting of two very different materials, one shaped by fire, one shaped by years of slow growth. Many people keep a small vase like this within easy reach for a single fresh-cut flower, valuing its shape as much as its function.
