Molten Glass Mini Blue Bowl on Wood

This mini bowl is made from blue-tinted molten glass, melted onto a small natural Gamal wood base in Bali. Its compact scale and colour set it apart from the clear-glass pieces elsewhere in the range, giving it a more distinct, jewel-like presence on a small surface. The glass settles into the wood's own shape as it cools, so the fit between the two is exact.

Symbolism

Balinese makers see the addition of colour to the glass as a further layer on top of the usual pairing of fire and wood, letting a single small piece carry its own identity within a larger, mostly clear-glass range.
