This small bowl is made from hand-blown recycled glass melted onto a natural Gamal wood root, made in Bali. Compact enough for a desk, shelf or bathroom windowsill, it follows the same process as the larger bowls in this range on a smaller scale. The glass hardens into the exact contours of that particular root as it cools.
Symbolism
Balinese makers see this fit between glass and wood as something the glass adapts to, taking the shape it is given rather than one imposed on it. Many people keep a small piece like this close at hand, valuing it as much for its individual shape as for what it can hold. Because no two wood roots are alike, this bowl's grain and curve are unique to this piece.
How to use
- Use for stones, a small air plant or trinkets rather than liquids.
