This ceramic oil burner takes the shape of two cupped hands holding a small bowl, ready to hold a lit tealight beneath and a few drops of fragrance oil or water above. The black glaze gives it a smooth, understated finish that suits most rooms and altar spaces.

Symbolism

Hands are traditionally seen as symbols of offering, protection and connection, and cupped hands in particular are associated with giving and receiving. Oil burners themselves have long been used in home rituals as a simple way to shift the atmosphere of a room through scent.

How to use

  • Fill the top bowl with water and add a few drops of your chosen fragrance or essential oil
  • Place a lit tealight in the base to gently warm the bowl from below
  • Never leave a burning tealight unattended and keep the burner on a heat-resistant surface
  • Top up the water as needed so the bowl does not run dry while lit
  • Allow to cool fully before moving or cleaning

Ask about this piece

Measurements, materials, how a thing is meant to be used, whether two pieces go together: ask and a person answers. Natural stone and hand-made work vary from piece to piece, so the photograph shows one example rather than the exact item. Write to us.
