On a morning that calls for something a little more special, neroli is one of the most treasured floral oils to add to a diffuser. This bottle is steam-distilled from the blossom of the bitter orange tree, Citrus aurantium, in Tunisia and already diluted to five percent in grapeseed oil.
Symbolism
Neroli takes its name from a seventeenth-century Italian princess said to have favoured its scent, and orange blossom has long featured in wedding tradition across the Mediterranean as a symbol of purity and new beginnings. In aromatherapy tradition it is associated with calm and emotional steadiness.
