Five small batik flags hang together on one string in this garland, each hand-drawn using the traditional wax-resist technique on rayon fabric and dyed by artisans in Ubud, Bali. Butterfly and angel motifs run across the set, sized at approximately 36.5 x 50.5 cm overall.
Symbolism
Butterflies are widely used as a symbol of transformation and new beginnings, while angel figures are traditionally associated with protection and guidance. Strung together as flags, the two motifs make a light, decorative garland with a gentle, positive theme.
