You hold the chain lightly between thumb and forefinger, letting the smooth lingam-shaped amethyst point settle into stillness before you begin. This shape is a classic choice for dowsing, weighted enough to swing cleanly and small enough to carry in a pocket or pouch.
Spiritual meaning and symbolism
Amethyst is widely associated in crystal lore with calm, clarity, and intuition, which is why it appears so often in tools meant for quiet reflection. The lingam form, a smooth tapering shape long used in dowsing practice, is valued for how evenly it moves on its chain. Pendulum work itself is thought to date back thousands of years, used across many cultures to explore questions, make decisions, or simply focus the mind.
How to use
- Hold the top of the chain steady between two fingers
- Let the pendulum hang freely and settle before asking a question
- Watch for a pattern of movement rather than a single swing
- Store it wrapped in cloth or in a pouch away from direct sunlight

- Size: approximately 23 x 1.5 cm
