When you want a moment of quiet before making a decision, a small rune reading can help slow things down. You take the pouch, tip the stones onto a flat surface, and let your eye settle on the one that stands out. This set includes 25 banded agate stones, 24 carved with a rune symbol and one plain, kept in a printed cotton pouch measuring roughly 11 by 9 cm.
Symbolism and tradition
The origins of runes remain unclear, though some accounts place their first use among Germanic and Gothic tribes between 2000 BC and 100 AD. Banded agate is traditionally valued in crystal lore for its grounding qualities, with the natural layered bands often read as a symbol of steady, gradual change. The blank stone is generally understood as an open question, a point where the reading remains unwritten.
How to use
- Draw one stone for a quick, focused question
- Lay out a small spread of stones for a broader reading
- Return all stones to the pouch after each use
- Keep the pouch in a dry place away from direct sunlight
