Reaching into the spice cabinet on a cool evening, the scent of Clove Leaf oil is unmistakable: warm, sharp and intensely spicy, far stronger than the whole cloves it comes from. Steam-distilled from the leaves of Syzygium aromaticum grown in Indonesia, it comes from the same Spice Islands trade that shaped centuries of world history.
Energetic properties
Cloves from the Maluku Islands were once among the most fiercely contested goods in global trade, and clove oil still carries that association with warmth and abundance in many folk traditions. Used sparingly, it adds a spicy backbone to autumn and winter blends, often paired with orange, cinnamon or cedarwood.
How to use
- Use in small amounts, blended with citrus or wood oils for a warm, spicy accord.
- Dilute thoroughly in a carrier oil before skin contact, as clove oil is strong; patch test first.
- Do not ingest, and keep well away from children and pets.
