The flower of life is a geometric pattern traced onto the bowl, made of overlapping circles that many traditions read as a symbol of interconnection and the underlying pattern of creation. Singing bowls themselves are a type of bell that rests bottom-down rather than hanging, and their sides and rim vibrate to produce sound rather than a struck clapper. Many people use them to settle the mind at the start or end of meditation.
