Before you sit down to practise, light a single stick of Golden Nag Temple Incense and give it a moment to settle. The scent is the resinous, slightly sweet note associated with Indian shrines, and one stick is usually enough for a small room. Each pack weighs 15g and is made in India.
Spiritual meaning
Temple blends take their name from the fragrances burned in places of worship, where smoke has long been offered as a gesture of respect and welcome. In Indian tradition the rising smoke is associated with prayer carried upward, and the fragrance itself with attention: it marks the start of a ritual and helps the mind know where it is. Many people light it before meditation, puja, or simply before a period of quiet reading.
How to use
- Light the coated end, then extinguish the flame so an ember remains.
- Place the bare end in a heat-resistant holder that collects the ash.
- Burn on a stable surface, well away from curtains and anything flammable.
- Air the room during and after burning.
- Never leave a burning stick unattended, and keep out of reach of children and pets.
