When you want to layer a rich, earthy note into a room or blend, add a few drops of this oil to your diffuser. Patchouli Essential Oil is steam distilled from the dried, fermented leaves of Pogostemon cablin, sourced from Indonesia.
Spiritual meaning
Patchouli takes its name from the Tamil word for green leaf, and the oil has long been used in potpourris and linen sachets across eastern countries, both for its scent and to help keep insects away from fabric. In aromatherapy it is traditionally associated with a balancing, grounding effect on the emotions, and its fragrance is said to deepen and improve with age.
How to use
- Add a few drops to a diffuser or oil burner
- Dilute well in a carrier oil before any use on the skin, and always patch test first
- Add a few drops to a linen sachet or drawer liner
- Do not ingest, and keep away from children and pets
- Ask a doctor before use during pregnancy
