This decanter takes the shape of a duck, formed from hand-blown recycled glass melted directly over a piece of reclaimed wood, with a matching glass stopper. Standing approximately 19 cm tall, it balances a fluid glass silhouette against a rugged wood base. Made in Indonesia, it follows the natural line of its own wood root, so the exact curve of the body varies slightly from piece to piece.
Symbolism
Balinese artisans describe pieces like this as shaped by heat and instinct rather than a fixed pattern, letting the glass settle where the wood's grain and shape lead it. Many collectors of hand-blown glass see this unevenness, small bubbles, gentle asymmetries, as part of the appeal rather than a flaw. Used as a decanter or simply as a sculptural object, it tells a quiet story of natural materials meeting a steady, practised hand.
