This candle holder takes a long, low form, with three glass wells set along a single flat piece of natural Gamal wood made in Bali. Its horizontal shape suits the centre of a dining table more than a narrow shelf. Each well was formed as molten glass melted directly onto the wood, so the exact spacing and shape follow that particular piece of grain.

Symbolism

Balinese makers see a long, flat form like this as giving the wood's natural line room to run through the whole piece, rather than being cut short around a single well. Many people place a piece like this along the centre of a table specifically because it reads as one continuous line rather than three separate objects. Because the wood base is unrepeatable, this holder's exact proportions belong only to this piece.

How to use

• Use with three tealight or votive candles, placed on a heat-resistant, stable surface.
• Never leave lit candles unattended, and keep the piece clear of curtains or other flammable materials.
• Wipe the glass with a soft, damp cloth when not in use.
