Getting ready for an evening out, a single drop of Ylang Ylang I oil blended into a carrier brings a rich, sweet, exotic floral scent, the kind used in classic perfumery for its heady character. Steam-distilled from the flowers of Cananga odorata grown in Comoros, this is the first fraction collected during the long, gradual distillation the flowers undergo.
Symbolism
Ylang ylang is fractionally distilled over many hours, with Extra and Fraction I, collected earliest, prized as the lightest and most refined for fine perfumery, while later fractions are heavier and more suited to soap and household blends. Comoros, alongside Madagascar, is one of the main producing regions for this flower.
How to use
- Blend into a carrier oil as a rich floral personal fragrance, or diffuse a single drop.
- Always dilute before skin contact and patch test a small area first.
- Do not ingest, and keep away from children and pets.
- Check with a doctor before use in pregnancy.
