If you already know copal from other resin incense, you will recognise its warm, balsamic character here layered over Palo Santo wood. These large sticks are made for the moments when you want a deep, traditional smoke, whether that is during a quiet ritual or simply while you settle into a room for the evening.
Spiritual meaning
Palo Santo, meaning holy wood, has been burned across South America for generations to clear a space of stale energy before it is used again. Copal comes from its own long tradition of resin incense used in ceremony across Central and South America, and the two are often paired for a deeper, more resinous smoke.
How to use
- Light the tip and let it catch, then blow out the flame so it smoulders
- Rest the stick in a heatproof holder or dish, and keep it in view while it burns
- Move it slowly through the room, or leave it to smoke where it stands
- Air the room afterwards, opening a window if you can
