This jug is formed from hand-blown recycled glass melted directly onto a natural Gamal wood base, made in Bali. Its tall, narrow shape sets it apart from the bowls and vases elsewhere in the range, giving it a more clearly functional silhouette. The glass hardens into the exact contour of the wood beneath it as it cools, so the base is unique to this piece.
Symbolism
Balinese craftspeople see a jug form as another everyday extension of the same process used throughout the range: hot glass settling permanently onto a wood root shaped by years of growth. Many people value that mix of function and handmade variation, since no two jugs share exactly the same base. Used for water or flowers, or simply displayed empty, it carries the same story of fire meeting growth found across the collection.
How to use
- Use to hold water or fresh flowers, or display empty as a sculptural piece.
- Hand wash only; wipe the wood with a dry cloth and avoid prolonged contact with standing water.
