In the last few minutes before bed, once the lights are low, this is a fitting time to light a dream sage bundle. It is a small 10 cm stick that burns down in a matter of minutes, just long enough to let the smoke settle around the bedroom.
Symbolism
Blends sold under names like dream sage are traditionally associated with rest and the hours before sleep, generally chosen for the bedroom rather than a working space. As with other sage bundles, the tradition is one of clearing the air of the day rather than any claim about the blend itself.
How to use
- Light the tip until it catches, then blow out the flame so the bundle smoulders and smokes rather than burns with an open flame.
- Carry it in a heatproof dish, moving slowly so the smoke has time to drift into corners.
- Keep it away from children and pets, never leave it unattended, and ventilate the room.
