At the dressing table before going out for the evening, a drop of Ylang Ylang III Essential Oil on a diffuser or diluted on the wrists brings a warm, deep floral scent into the room. It comes from the same tree as Ylang Ylang I, Cananga odorata, but this is a later fraction collected during the traditional distillation process, with a heavier, less sharp character than the earlier fractions.
Symbolism
In parts of Indonesia, ylang ylang flowers are traditionally scattered on the beds of newly married couples, a custom tied to the flower's name, which translates roughly as flower of flowers. The scent carries that association into aromatherapy, where it is traditionally used to mark occasions rather than for everyday freshening.
How to use
- Add a few drops to a diffuser for a warm, floral evening scent.
- Dilute in a carrier oil before any skin contact, and patch test first.
- Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
