Switching off from work in the early evening, a drop of Petitgrain oil in the diffuser brings a green, slightly floral, woody-citrus scent into the room, calmer than orange but from the very same tree. Steam-distilled from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree, Citrus aurantium, grown in Paraguay, one of the main modern producers of this oil.
Energetic properties
Petitgrain, neroli and bitter orange all come from the same tree, each oil distilled from a different part: twigs and leaves for petitgrain, flowers for neroli, peel for the orange oil itself. Many people use petitgrain in the evening for its calmer, greener take on the orange tree's scent, often blended with lavender or cedarwood.
How to use
- Diffuse in the evening, alone or blended with lavender or cedarwood.
- Dilute in a carrier oil before any skin contact, and patch test a small area first.
- Do not ingest, and keep away from children and pets.
