On an evening when you want to slow down, this is a smudge stick worth lighting before you run a bath or sit for a few quiet minutes. Dried rose petals are folded into the white sage bundle, so as it smoulders the smoke carries a soft, floral note alongside the herbal one.
Symbolism
Rose has long been linked with the heart in folk tradition, and it is a common addition to sage bundles made for chakra work, the system of seven energy centres described in yoga and tantric tradition. Many people burn a rose petal blend like this one when they want to focus on the heart chakra in particular, though it can just as easily be used for a general clearing.
How to use
- Light the tip until it catches, then blow out the flame so the bundle smoulders and smokes rather than burns with an open flame.
- Set it in a heatproof dish or shell and move it slowly around the space.
- Never leave it burning unattended, and keep the room ventilated.
